Banana bread is a popular sweet quick bread from the United States, dating back to the early 1900s. It became common because baking soda made quick breads easy to bake at home, and bananas were widely available. Variations exist worldwide, especially in regions where bananas grow.
Ingredients
3 ripe bananas (or overripe for extra sweetness and moisture)
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
½ cup avocado oil
¾ cup sugar
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a loaf pan and line with parchment paper, then lightly oil with avocado oil.
In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla and avocado oil until combined.
Mash bananas and add to the wet mixture; mix well.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake 55–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
