This antioxidant smoothie is a powerhouse of nutrient-rich ingredients that support both your overall health and blood sugar balance! The best part - it tastes divine,
Almond Butter: Full of healthy fats and protein, almond butter helps slow the absorption of sugars from fruit, which can help stabilize blood sugar levels. It also provides magnesium, which plays a role in glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity.
Avocado: Packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, fiber, and potassium, avocado not only boosts the creamy texture but also helps regulate blood sugar by slowing the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. It also helps prevent blood sugar spikes, making it a great choice for keeping energy levels steady.
Antioxidant-Rich Fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, pineapple): These fruits are loaded with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants like anthocyanins, which help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. Their natural sugars, combined with fiber, are absorbed more slowly, helping prevent rapid blood sugar spikes.
Together, these ingredients make the most crave worthy smoothie. 🍓🥑🍌
Antioxidant Smoothie
(Serves 2)
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/4 cup frozen raspberries
1/4 cup frozen blueberries
1/4 cup frozen blackberries
2 tbsp frozen mango
2 tbsp frozen pineapple
1/4 ripe banana (frozen is ideal for extra creaminess)
1-2 drops stevia (adjust to your sweetness level)
1/4 cup almond butter
1/4 cup avocado
550ml spring water (adjust for desired smoothie thickness)
Optional: 1 scoop unflavored marine collagen or Blue Magic spirulina (for an extra nutrient boost)
Toppings:
Coconut cream (blended to smooth consistency)
Optional: additional fruit, chia seeds, or hemp seeds for crunch and added nutrition
Instructions:
Prepare Coconut Cream: Open your can of coconut milk and scoop out the thick coconut cream. Blend it to a smooth consistency, and use this to coat the inside of your glass for a creamy finish.
Blend the Smoothie: In a blender, combine your frozen fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, pineapple), frozen banana, frozen avocado, and almond butter. Add stevia for sweetness and water to get the consistency you want. If using collagen or spirulina, add those now too.
Blend Until Ultra-Creamy: Blend everything on high until you reach a thick, smooth texture. If it's too thick for your liking, just add a little more water and blend again.
Serve: Swirl the coconut cream on the sides of the glass. Pour the smoothie into your prepared glasses.
